27 Years Since The Best Day Of My Life

Facebook recently showed me that it was 27 years since what I consider to be one of the best days of my life!

At the time, I would say that it was THE best day of my life…

The post was about how 27 years ago this month I had the most mind blowing and magical experience when I went to London to see two of my favourite bands Paw and Headswim play live supporting Raging Slab.

I got way more than I bargained for that night as I got to go backstage and hang out with the bands AND also hanging out there were SOUNDGARDEN!!!!

This was HUGE for me as Soundgarden was in internationally acclaimed group and the next week they were going to release their Superunknown album that would make their fame stratospheric.

I didn’t care about their fame though. The avid music fan in me cared about how they are part of my favourite musical tribe coming out of Seattle at the time and were close friends with my beloved Pearl Jam.

That night I got to meet every member of Soundgarden and meeting the lead singer Chris Cornell was a particular highlight. To date he still is the most alluring man I have ever met!

Along with it being my first experience of live music in a London club, what I loved about this was that I got to meet people I admired and who inspired me, who previously I had only seen in pictures in magazines or images on video. They were suddenly real life people to me. I got to chat with them and make friends for that brief time.

For the 14 year old me, this showed me at a young age that anything was possible…

That my wildest dreams ARE possible… And that they are made possible by just being me doing my thing… Being passionate, friendly and happy.

Knowing this changed me deeply and forever!

A few things for you to ponder and explore…

  • When you look back at your life, what experiences did you have that were positive turning points for you?
  • What memories are magical to you?
  • What past experiences still really inspire you?

Looking at these memories and experiences, what lessons did you learn?… And how can you draw upon them to inspire you in life now?

I hope this has given you some food for thought.
